GENERAL GUIDE LINES TO THE STUDENTS

•  Our College philosophy is to cultivate self-discipline, self motivation and self determination among the Students.

•  The college will function from 9.00 AM to 4.40 PM on all working days. Students are advised to interact liberally with the teacher either in the class or outside and clear the doubts

•  It is emphasized that students will have 100% attendance in every class. Students are advised to take leave only under unavoidable circumstance and with prior permission from the subject teacher and faculty advisor with the knowledge of their parents. However, it is essential to have a minimum of 75% attendance as stipulated by Anna University to become eligible to write the end-semester examination. Lack of attendance by less than 75% will result in repetition of the semester and loss of one academic year.

•  Continuous evaluation of the students is made by conducting Unit Test, Model Exams, Tutorials and Assignments regularly for the internal assessments. Sectional marks are calculated on the basis of the rules and regulations of the university.

•  Every Student will be attached to one faculty Counselor, who will be their guardian during the studies. Students are requested to keep their faculty advisor informed of the needs and seek their advice.

•  Students are advised to take care of their belongings by themselves.

•  Students should pay their fees and other dues on time, on their own as per schedule or when informed to do so. All payments should be made to the accounts division.

•  Every student will be issued an identity card which should be exhibited visibly while inside the campus.

•  Students are required to make Industrial Visits as an integral part of their course and the expenditure incurred is to be borne by them.

•  Students should co-operate with the Management, Staff and fellow students and achieve self sufficiency and derive satisfaction.

•  Habitual neglect of class work, assignments and homework should be totally avoided.

•  Students should maintain decorum, discipline and good behavior, while attending meetings or any other functions.

•  Use of mobile phones is totally prohibited during the class hours.

 

DRESS CODE:

•   Currently no uniform is suggested for the students. However, a dress code is suggested for both Boys& Girls as indicated below. Students are requested to follow this dress code with full sincerity.

BOYS:

•   Full pants and half / full sleeve shirts duly tucked in, with black shoes and neatly dressed hair. Loose shirts with wild printed shirts, T-shirts, jeans or chapels are not permissible. Overcoats are to be used on workshop/laboratory sessions.

GIRLS:

•   Chuidhar khameez with shawl and black cut shoes with hair neatly dressed. Midis, mini skrits, sleeveless dress or chapels are not permissible. Use of costly jewels and excess gold ornaments should be avoided. Overcoats and canvas shoes are to be used on workshop/laboratory

CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE:

    •  A Disciplinary Committee is constituted with a view to manage students’ discipline efficiently and effectively. The Disciplinary committee shall have the power to directly call for an enquiry into any event affecting students’ discipline on and off campus. They can summon any student(s) to appear before them in relation to an enquiry into any issue related to student discipline. The Disciplinary Committee shall also have the power to request any member of the administration or faculty to assist in the enquiry, and not restricted giving evidence of any event that occurred during the action under investigation and also to serve on the enquiry panel when relevant.

    •  Students are expected to behave politely and in courteous manner towards the Staff.

    •  Smoking inside the campus is strictly prohibited. Playing cards, betting and gambling activities are totally prohibited and would be viewed as acts of grave indiscipline.

    •  Students are strictly forbidden from consuming drugs and intoxicants.

    •  Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. If any information is received about any student involved in any form of ragging, he/she will be expelled /dismissed from the College forthwith. The students are advised to take note of the standing UGC/AICTE/Government Order in this regard, which has been displayed prominently in the college notice boards. Including or supporting malpractice and misbehavior will be considered undesirable and will be viewed seriously. The conduct of the student will be judged, depending on his/her good manners, decent behavior, honest and sincere approach to their curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the campus.

    •  Students shall avoid saying / doing anything by word or deed that may disturb the unity and harmony of life not only in the College and Hostel but also outside the campus.

    •  Students are forbidden from counseling or taking part in strikes and demonstrations. No meeting of any kind, tea party, lunch, dinner or get-together shall be arranged in the College premises or outside without the permission of the Principal.

    •  Students shall abstain from active participation in political and communal activities. Disciplinary action will be taken against any student/students who indulge in political/communal propaganda or organize fellow students in political/religious factions in the premises of the College or Hostel or otherwise engage themselves in group clashes.

    •  Students should strictly desist from (i) use of rude language towards the staff of the College / Hostel (ii) assaulting or attempting to assault the staff or fellow students of the College.

    •  Any student who has been convicted of any offence in the court of law will not be allowed to continue his / her studies in the college.

    •  Students shall not indulge in any activity leading to the disruption of peace, discipline and dislocation of normal work in the College and Hostel premises. Severe disciplinary action will be taken on those who violate this rule.

    •  Cases of serious indiscipline, repetition of minor indisciplinary act will result in the name of the offender being entered in the Discipline and Welfare Committee  or removal from the College.

    •  In the College canteen, separate wings have been earmarked for the use of boys and girls. They have to use only their respective wings.

    •  During the class hours, students are forbidden from loitering along the corridors or roads. They shall not loiter along the corridor or anywhere in the College campus or disturb other classes at work. Any violation will be viewed seriously.

    •  Bursting of crackers is forbidden within the College campus and the hostel during educational tours and even on festivals like Deepavalli, Pongal, Christmas and New Year etc.

    •  In the name of Holy Festival, Farewell Party and last working day, etc. applying colour powder or sprinkling color water on others is strictly prohibited.

 

DISCIPLINE:

    •  Every student is required to observe disciplined and decorous behavior both inside and outside the college and to indulge in any activity which will tend to bring down the prestige of the college

 

CLEANLINESS AND SAFETY:

    •  Students shall strictly observe the safety regulations in the laboratories and workshops.

    •  Students shall take care of tools, apparatus or other equipment given to them and shall preserve the cleanliness of the laboratories and the workshops.

    •  Care should be exercised in handling the property of the College and any damage caused casually will entail disciplinary / penal action and recovery of cost.

    •  Students are prohibited from damaging any building or furniture or any asset or property of the College. Students are forbidden from writing or marking on the walls or desks or throwing papers or ink on the floors of the classrooms. The cost of any damage so caused will be recovered from the students concerned or collectively if responsibility for it cannot be fixed on any individual. Besides the recovery, they will also be subjected to disciplinary action.

    •  Students are advised to switch off the fans and lights when they leave the classrooms.

 

FUNCTIONS AND MEETINGS

    •  Students are advised to actively participate in all the functions and meetings held in the College. When the students are called for attending such functions or meetings no student should stay back in the hostels and they are expected to leave the hostels well in advance, so as to reach the venue in time. They shall maintain perfect discipline and order while attending the functions/meetings.

    •  In the valedictory function of association and clubs, awards/ certificates/ mementos will be distributed in the presence of all faculty members of the respective department. Students should not convene any separate farewell party either inside or outside the campus.

    •  Students are expected not to leave in the middle of the proceedings of any meeting and not to be seen in any place other than the meeting venue.

    •  Students are not allowed to shout, hoot or whistle during the functions like Convocation, College Day, Hostel Day, and Sports Day or during inter-collegiate competitions, Association meetings and Guest Lectures etc.

    •  They are also advised to refrain from sitting on the pavement/stairs.

    •  Outsiders should not be invited to the Institution without the written permission of the Principal.

 

GENERAL:

    •  Requests, petitions, appeals and complaints of any kind need to be made in the first place to the Class Advisor / Head of the Department concerned and not directly to the higher authorities.

    •  In all academic or disciplinary matters, decision of the Authorities of the College shall be final.

    •  Principal has power to inflict the punishments such as fine, suspension and expulsion from college or hostel for violation of disciplinary regulations and code of conduct in the interest of student community/institution.

    •  Students are expected to read the notice put up on the notice boards of the College/hostel.

    •  Students should park their vehicles in the parking lots only.

    •  Principal has power to frame and issue additional / amended rules and regulations for proper conduct proceedings of inside and outside the College and/or hostel premises from time to time.

 

FACULTY COUNSELOR:

•  To help the students in planning their course of study and for general advice on the academic programme, the Head of the Department of the students will attach a certain number of students to a teacher of the Department who shall function as Faculty Adviser for those students throughout their period of study. Such Faculty Adviser shall advise the students and monitor the course undergone by the students, check the attendance and progress of the students attached to him/her and counsel them periodically. If necessary, the faculty adviser may also discuss with or inform the parents about the progress of the students.





Hostel Rules & Regulations

1. Students are expected to act in such a manner that an atmosphere conducive to effective study prevails in the hostel.
2. The hostel wardens have full authority to check any room in the hostel at any time with or without the help from local administration.
3. Ragging is a cognizable offence, punishable under the law and is strictly banned. Any student involved in any kind of ragging will be liable for immediate expulsion from the hostel/college.
4. Unauthorized guests or outsiders in the hostel room are strictly prohibited. Any student keeping unauthorized person in his/her room will be liable to disciplinary action amounting to expulsion from the hostel.
5. No student shall occupy or interchange the room without permission and proper allotment of the room by hostel warden.
6. Smoking and consumption of alcoholic drinks and / or narcotic drugs in the hostel premises is strictly prohibited. Students shall not enter the hostel premises in intoxicated state and should not possess such materials. Severe action will be taken if any resident is found to violate this, resulting in expulsion from hostels and rustication from the Institute.
7. Hostellers are warned not to keep valuable goods in their rooms. Hostel management shall not be responsible for loss of such valuables.
8. Students shall have to abide by the decisions of the hostel wardens with respect to enforcement of the hostel rules failing which strict disciplinary action may be taken.
9. While leaving the rooms, it must be ensured that the light and fans are switched off failing which he/she will be liable to imposition of fines.
10. Use of electrical appliances such as heaters, electrical irons etc. are strictly prohibited.
11. Tampering with and alteration of electrical fittings are strictly prohibited and liable for action.
12. Hostellers desiring to go out of station must obtain permission from the warden concerned before going out.
13. Damage to hostel property such as doors, windows, electrical fitting, toilet fitting, glass panes, CC TV Cameras etc. will lead to fine, disciplinary action, expulsion from the hostel. A general deduction from the hostel security deposit will be made at the end of the course, towards the breakage other than those, which are charged against the individuals.
14. The boarders must keep their rooms neat and clean.
15. Room furniture, electric fittings etc are required to be maintained by the students in good conditions. If any breakage occurs then cost will be collected. (individually or collectively),
16. Student shall not remain absent from their hostels during the night without prior permission of the warden.
17. Boarders shall not leave the hostel without prior permission of the warden they shall apply to the Warden/Chief Warden stating reason of leaving and address of destination.
18. Boarders shall treat their fellow boarders, institute staff, hostel staff, mess staff with dignity and decorum. If any hosteller is found indulging in any form of instigation / intimidation / threat to any other hostellers he / she will be asked to vacate the hostel forthwith. In this regard, the decision of the Chief Warden is final binding on the individual's concerned.
19. A student once admitted in the hostel continues to be a hostel inmate throughout the year. He/she has to pay the room rent for the full academic session. The amount will be forfeited if the inmate decides to leave the hostel in the mid-session.
20. A student should not enter the rooms of others who are not in their rooms.
21. A student shall not hand over the keys of his/her room to any other student/person except the Warden.
22. Parties, social gatherings in the hostel complex are not permitted without the prior and written consent of the accommodation officer. (Celebrating birthday parties inside the hostel rooms is strictly prohibited.)
23. Collection of donation for any purpose (Religious/ otherwise) is also strictly prohibited.
24. Pasting of posters, writings, wall chalking, slogans of any kind or defacing the hostel in any form is not allowed.
25. Water should be carefully used and not wasted.
26. Avoid wasting the Food.
27. Keep the Dinning Hall clean and Hygienic.
28. Don’t throw the food debris on the Dinning Table.

Use of Mobile Phones

29. Ordinary cell phone could be used. But, students should not use them during silence hours (8.00 p.m to 6.00 a.m) in the hostel.
30. Camera Cell Phones and Head Set should not be used.
31. Tampering with and alteration of electrical fittings for charging mobiles are strictly prohibited and liable for action.
32. Charging of Mobiles must be done on the place allotted / provisions provided.
33. Cell Phone should be used only inside the room. And it must not be used in corridors and Verandas and Dinning Halls.

Use of Lap Tops:

34. Lap tops are not allowed inside the room. If required, Permission must be sought from The Principal.

Note: Violation of any of these rules would result in punitive action and serious violations would be referred to the “Discipline and Welfare Committee". The decision of the committee would be final.
