ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the three branches started in the year 2000 with an intake of 60 students. In the year 2005 the intake has been increased to 90 and then to 120 in the year 2007 and in the year 2012 it is increased to 180. The post graduate program in VLSI Design with an intake of 18 was started in the year 2007. In the year of 2011 post graduate program in Applied Electronics was stepped in with an intake of 18. In the year of 2013 post graduate program in Communication Systems was started with an intake of 24.The department is also a member of Nano Technology Technical Consortium; New Delhi from June 2008. The department is also awarded the center of excellence for research and advanced studies under Anna University, Coimbatore.

To impart quality technical education and to promote innovative research in frontier areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE

PEO1: Higher Studies: The graduates are able to excel in professional career and/or Higher education by acquiring knowledge in the areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

PEO2: Employability Skill: The graduates are able to analyze the design concepts and technical knowledge to solve Electronics problems.

PEO3: Product Development: To exhibit professionalism on latest trends in Electronics & Communication Engineering and to enhance the creativity for developing novel products for real time problems.

PEO4: Leadership Skill: To create awareness on continuous learning, professional ethics, team work and importance of communication skills for better professional practice with social concern.

PEO5: Enduring Knowledge and Moral Code: To provide a conductive academic learning environment to inculcate the leadership qualities and quest for lifelong learning to excel in professional career.

Program Outcomes (POs)

1. Engineering Knowledge: Graduates will apply the knowledge of differential equations, vector calculus, random process, Technical skills, physics, chemistry, electron devices and electrical circuits.

2. Problem Analysis: Graduates will demonstrate an ability to identify, formulate and solve Electronics engineering problems.

3. Design/development of solutions: Graduates able to design a system to meet the specific needs within the realistic constraints such as social & economic, environment, ethics, health and safety.

4. Conduct investigations of Complex Problems: Graduates able to perform investigations using research based

Knowledge and methods, design as well as conduct experiments, analyze and interpret the results to provide valid conclusions.

5. Modern Tool Usage: Graduates able to select and apply appropriate techniques, resources for the design and analysis of the systems using modern EDA tools.
