Separate Hostels for boys and girls are available with facilities like 24 hour uninterrupted power supply, pure water facilities, attached mess with hygienic food and with fool - proof security system.

Admission

Application for admission to the hostel shall be made in the prescribed form. An applicant will be admitted in the hostel with the approval of the Warden / Principal.

Every student before he is admitted to the hostel must give an undertaking in writing that he / she will submit himself / herself to any rules & regulations imposed by authorities. This shall be endorsed by the parent / guardian also in the attached declaration form.

At the time of admission, the applicant should remit the fee as prescribed by the college.

Accommodation

Separate hostel accommodation is available for boys & girls. The rooms are furnished with tables and cots for the students. Each room is provided with fans. Hostel rooms are bath-attached.

The inmates are instructed to submit three identity cards for endorsement and approval of the Principal / Warden meant for their parents / guardians / relatives.

At a time only two of the three persons holding the identity card are strictly permitted to meet the inmates and that too only on Sundays between 10.00am - 6.00p.m. on any account any other person not holding the identity card will not be permitted to meet any of the inmates.

Telephone facilities are made available in the hostel. The inmates should talk to their parents / guardians only.

All letter correspondence should be made by the inmates only through Deputy Warden.

Library

Muthayammal College of Engineering Library has an excellent collection of Books, Journals and Non-book Materials in science, Engineering, Technology and Humanities. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Bound volumes of journals, Theses and CDs. The Library has over the years built robust collection of over 12778 Documents, 11585 Volumes of books with 2300 Titles, 237 Bounded Back Volumes, 671 CDs and 285 Projects. The Central library Subscribes 50 National journals, 20 International print journals and 2780 E-journals.
The library subscribes E-resources like ACM journals, Cengage Learning’s (Including Springer, Elsevier, ASME and ASTM).Most of the library functions such as Issue, Return, Reservation and Searching books have automated with barcode technology.
The library is using OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), wherein the users can search the Library Online Catalogue by Author's name, title, subject, and keywords available in the Library.

Computerization of Library
The Library uses EasyLib Software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operation in the Library. The Easylib consists of modules of acquisition, cataloguing, circulation serials, articles, indexing and OPAC. The database of books available in the library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books. Records of the entire Library pattern has also been created in the Easylib package.

Library Facilities
1. OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)
Through this service the member of the library can find out the location of books, title of books, author of the books, publishers and edition of the books
2. Reference
Readers may approach the library staff for information, any assistance in the use of the library collections and services. For special information requirement users may also reach reader’s section in-charge. The Library maintains separate reference collection consisting of subject and reference text, GATE, GRE, GMAT, CAT, TOEFL, TNPSC, UPSC Civil Services books, Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Handbooks, Bibliography and Personality Development books etc.
3. Reprography
The staff is permitted to take free photocopies in the Library premises. Students are permitted to take photocopy of few pages from the books or journals from the in-house facility.

4. Network
Every library members can read the library resources from their department through our intranet zone
5. Automated Book Lending
Books can be issued through scanning barcode lable of the book and users Id Card.
6. Book Bank for SC/ST
First year students of SC/ST can take three books from book bank for six months.
7. Digital Knowledge Centre with AC
10 Computers are available for the users to browse the internet through 8Mbps broadband connectivity. Through this internet service students can collect information for their project and research work. The students and staff can browse the required information from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

Routing of current journals to the students on every Friday
6. Inter Library Loan
Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service whereby the Faculty, Students and Staff of Muthayammal College of Engineering can borrow books or receive photocopies of documents that are owned by other libraries. MCE Library subscribed the following libraries by ILL.

SECTIONS :

Circulation Section with Bar-coding Technology
Bar-coding is based on coded information. Each accession number is recognized and given separate code. Through this technology the books are circulated in short time and save the time of user. Books can be borrowed on submission of User’s ID. Books are given for 15 days duration. UG students can borrow 3 books and PG Students can borrow 05 books for 15 days on producing their ID.
Periodical and Reading Section:
50 National, 20 International Print Journals, ACM, Indian back Volumes of journals are displayed. Research scholars use these back volumes for their efficient project.
Digital Library Section:
The Digital library has a collection of documents in organized electronic form available on the Internet or CD Disks. Here students can access magazines article, books, papers, images, sound files and videos.
