Overview

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like buildings, roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, railways etc., The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2013 with an undergraduate programme of B.E. in Civil Engineering affiliated to Anna University, Chennai with an intake of 90 students. The programme is as per curriculum of an Autonomous Institution, approved by BoS members from reputed institutions, from the year 2016. We focus on producing talented graduates in Civil Engineering to meet the global necessities of technological advancements in industrial sector. Rigorously trained and highly competent faculty members specialized in various disciplines augment the department. With our competitive expertise and commitment rooted on professional ethics we yield well moulded professionals in every aspect of Civil Engineering. Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and Interactive sessions with eminent Academicians/ Technocrats are organized every year to abridge the path between academics and industrial practices. Our students have been actively involving in community service since it is made as part and parcel of the curriculum. The department has full-fledged laboratories enhanced with modern equipments to support the curriculum.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

PEO1: To develop the professional with a sound foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to synthesize the technical core concepts focusing on knowledge up gradation which will lead to technical innovations.

PEO2: Capable of analyzing and specifying the requirement of the Computer Science and Information Technology system to design and develop methodologies to meet the requirement of the system using the contemporary tools.

PEO3: Graduate of the programme will have the competencies for communicating, planning, coordinating, organizing, decision making and leading a team and they will have knowledge of professional, interpersonal and ethical responsibility and will contribute to society through active engagement.

PEO4: To develop the students with to practice and demonstrate the ability to use the domain knowledge and expertise through periodic assignments , performances and projects to continuously prove the functionality of computer science and engineering learning in social and environmental aspects and to make allowances for further improvements.
